The Daily Basics of skin Care
Step #1- Cleansing will remove dirt, make-up, excess oil, built-up toxins and other pollutants which clog pores and can lead to conditions such as acne.
Step #2- Toner will remove residue left by cleanser, tighten pores and balance the PH of your skin.
Step #3- Moisturizer should always be applied after toner to re hydrate skin and give protection against the environment.
Step #4- Apply a broadspectrum sunscreen in the morning to prevent premature aging, skin cancer, and hyperpigmentation (sun or liver spots).  Sun damage is the biggest factor in skin aging and damage.  Chemical sunscreen is absorbed into the skin. Physical sunscreen provides a barrier to reflect UVA and UVB rays (usually found in mineral makeup-Zinc Oxide and Titanium dioxide are the common ones)

Other Important Steps to Consider

#1 SERUMS- are used to treat skin conditions. They contain concentrated active ingredients.  Good for fine lines or wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, to control oiliness, or for sensitive skin to soothe.

#2 EXFOLIATION-  is important to remove dead skin cells and debris that will clog pores and create acne, it also encourages cell renewal for younger looking skin, and allows skin to absorb other products more effectively.  There 2 types of exfoliation.  -Physical exfoliation is when scrubs with granules, crushed nuts or seeds are used to physically rub off dead skin (microdermabrasion).  -Chemical exfoliation is also know as a peel and vary how much skin is removed.  They penetrate deeply into pores and break down the "glue" that holds the cells together (AHA & BHAs).

#3 MASKS- Are treatments with concentrated active ingredients to improve any skin condition you may be experiencing.  A serum can be applied under a mask for even better results.

#4 Eye Creams or serums- the skin around your eyes is different than the rest of skin on your face. It is much thinner, therefore the cream used on the rest of your face should not be used around the eyes, an eye cream or serum is more beneficial.
